ARTIST STATEMENT
My name is Valeriia Martha Lakrisenko. I am engaged in easel painting, where I explore the modality in which oil painting continues to exist and develop in the complex conditions of the modern political, economic, technological context.
Oil painting is a form of interaction, an amazing practice of working with the absorption of the viewer's attention, inviting to an intense experience of contemplation, and the canvas acquires a new dimension of being. Long attention focused on the poetics of the interaction of the matter of oil paint. In the era of catalysis, accelerating and sweeping away everything in its path, sensitivity as resistance, a protest against the alienated, commodity state of modern life.
